A technical seminar on national book and reading policies (NBRP) in Africa involving six countries just ended in Kigali (Rwanda), where it saw the adoption of the African Union (AU) Continental Book and Reading Framework and where a customized tool kit that will provide a road map on policy formulation was agreed upon.

The Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Global Book Alliance (GBA) and the African Union Commission (AUC), in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Francophonie of Côte d'Ivoire, jointly organized a follow-up technical seminar on National Book and Reading Policies (NBRP) in Africa to support quality education for national development through sustained and improved literacy for the benefit of African peoples.

ADEA, USAID through GBA and AUC, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education of Rwanda and the Ministry of Culture and Francophonie of Côte d’Ivoire, are planning in their respective countries a follow up Technical Seminar on National Book and Reading Policies (NBRP) in Africa, to support quality education for national development through improved literacy.

Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire) 25th June 2019 – Participants at the just-concluded workshop in Nairobi on National Book and Reading Policies for Africa have validated the African Union (AU) continental framework to support quality education for national development.

The BLM section of the ADEA ICQN-TL recently concluded a successful forumin partnership with the African Publishers Network (APNET) which identified the elimination of piracy as well as the development of a National Book and Reading Policy as the top priorities for a Publishing Collaborative for Nigeria.
